Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who may attend the BBBB?

Anyone may attend and join us on the trails. While we're a Brotherhood of Early Bronco enthusiasts, we welcome rigs of all makes. Also, you needn't be a "member" of So Cal Broncos.

2. Is there a registration fee or form?

Nope. The Big Bear Bronco Bash is not really an organized run. Rather, its a bunch of folks meeting at certain times to run some trails together. There's no cost in that, and generally you make all of your own arrangements. You just show up at the correct time for the runs. We do ask, however, that you enter your information on the "Signup Sheet" in the Database section of the So Cal Broncos site on Yahoo! Groups. If you're not a member of our Yahoo! Group, please send your name, rig description, arrival and depart dates, and lodging arrangements (cabin # if staying at Golden Bear Cottages), and run choices for each day to Dusty Sharp at dtsharp@earthlink.net.

3. Will there be a raffle?

YES! Click Here for more information.

4. Do I need a Forest Adventure Pass?

Technically no, in most cases. The Adventure Pass rules state that you must have a pass if you park your vehicle within the National Forest, in order to recreate outside the vehicle. Well, in our case we're usually in our vehicles the whole time and only stop for breaks. If you plan to stop and take short hikes, such as to the Champion Lodgepole Pine, you are required to have an Adventure Pass. If all you plan to do is run the trails with the group and not wander off on your own, you technically are not required to have one. However, you travel in the NF without an Adventure Pass AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you need official clarification of the rules, please inquire at the Big Bear Discovery Center or at any Ranger Station.

5. Is there a technical inspection?

No, you are responsible for making sure your own rig is in trailworthy condition, and capable of the trails you wish to tackle. While everyone is always very helpful to those having problems on the trail, more ground can be covered and everyone can have a better time if breakage and slow-downs due to ill-equipped vehicles is kept to a minimum. Know your rig and your capabilities. Make sure routine maintenance has been performed and typical problem areas checked prior to the run. Carry a good set of tools and spare parts. If you can't decide from the Run Descriptions whether your rig or skills are a good match for a particular run, please ask the Group by posting a message on the So Cal Broncos Yahoo! Group or send your rig info and the trails you wish to run to Dusty Sharp at dtsharp@earthlink.net. All of the trails are legal roads and you will be subject to motor vehicle regulations, so please make sure your license, registration and insurance is up to date in case a Ranger asks to see them. Green sticker vehicles are not allowed on most of the trails.

6. Where can I park my tow vehicle and trailer?

If you are staying at Golden Bear Cottages, you may park your tow vehicle and trailer in the vacant lot to the north of cabins 1-4. If you arrive early, please park your rig in an orderly fashion so others can park too. The space is limited and available on a first-come, first serve basis. This parking area is a courtesy that has been granted us by the management of Golden Bear Cottages, so lets leave the area clean and undamaged so we may continue to use it in future years.

7. Can I hang out at Golden Bear Cottages if I'm not staying there?

If you're not a registered guest at Golden Bear Cottages, you may still come and hang out for the potluck and other activities. The management has asked, however, that you check in at the office upon your arrival and put your name on the guest list. Also, please be courteous with regards to parking, as spaces are limited at the cabins. If the guest parking spaces are full, please use the vacant lot behind cabins 1-4 (on the north side of Big Bear Lake Blvd.) or park along the street. In no case should vehicles block the driveways within the cabin complex, as these are designated fire lanes.
